Cosmetic Affairs is a monthly beauty subscription box using make-up as a platform to reach young gen-z females to inspire not only self care through beauty but self care through your own voice, actions and the impact your own vote can have.
Cause:
Gen-Z care about politics more than any other generation we have seen before. However young females are the least likely to vote. “Women aged between 18 and 24 are the least likely of all to vote in this general election.” Encouraging political awareness and providing accessible information can help to change this outcome.
Brand:
How can a beauty brand encourage and create political awareness for women aged 16-23, using make-up products to spark this conversation. Inspiring change and empowering young adults.
The Box: Edition 1 Example
This edition 1 beauty box aims to be a starting point for young women into their political knowledge by directly providing information on their local political standings. This direct approach helps to feed the message of ‘taking a stance’ and ‘making-up a change’ which young women have a right to do. The contents helps to do this with its relevant resources and information and provocative visuals helping to achieve Cosmetic Affair’s unique goal.

How it Works:
After subscribing to Cosmetic Affairs buyers will be sent a box monthly as shown above containing the relevant resources to fulfill our mission. The box each month will contain the main book with new information in each time surrounding the monthly theme, beauty products and fun Cosmetic Affairs merchandise. The boxes are customisable to the purchaser’s address to contain information about their local MPs and area as well as general news and updates on current political happenings.
Social media is used as a platform to further push our mission of creating a platform for women age 16-23 to further develop their knowledge surrounding political awareness. Appealing to Gen-Z audience makes social media a crucial part in advertising the product and the message. Our Instagram page utilises this by sharing further information (as seen in an example below) on current political and world news, which might not be in the box, along side with sharing/advertising the actual beauty subscription box. Such as, a look inside the box at products and links to the website with where to purchase the box.
